A Dreamy Carmel-by-the-Sea Proposal: Beach, Downtown, and a Classic Car

A Quiet Beach Proposal with a View

Carter wanted his proposal to feel intimate, so we planned for a more discreet setup on the beach. He and his partner walked down from their nearby hotel, with me positioned further away, capturing the moment from afar with a long zoom lens. It gave them the privacy they needed, and the photos still told the story with emotion and clarity. After a few moments for them to soak it all in, I joined them for some beach portraits. Carmel Beach’s soft light, ocean breeze, and rugged beauty always provide a stunning and romantic backdrop.

Scenic Drive & a Vintage Car Moment

One of the standout features of this session was Carter’s decision to rent a classic car from Monterey Touring Vehicles. We drove it down Scenic Drive, which quickly became the perfect setting for golden-hour portraits. The vintage car added so much character to the shoot—both as a prop and as a part of their weekend experience. The cypress-lined roads and coastal views along Scenic Drive captured the essence of Carmel in such an iconic way. It was romantic, fun, and timeless.

Strolling Through Downtown Carmel

After the beach, we made our way into downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea. Walking the charming cobblestone streets and alleyways made for a perfect transition. The story of their weekend continued to unfold as I captured them exploring the village-like setting together. The quaint architecture, lush gardens, and tucked-away shops gave us beautiful backdrops at every turn. And since their dinner reservation was downtown, I documented their walk to dinner—adding another layer of storytelling to their day.
